The white-collared blackbird is a thrush found throughout the Indian subcontinent, ranging across Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and high-altitude shrubland (Wikipedia, general species account).
On the Tibetan Plateau it can breed twice a year: the first attempt gives small clutches with a few nestlings fledging in high body condition, while the second gives larger clutches and more chicks in lower condition. Chicks are fed plant material, especially berries, and invertebrates. Females show bold or shy nest-defence personalities, and bold females had higher nest success.
