Vanellus malabaricus
Habitat
Ground nest of tiny pebbles
Clutch size
4 eggs
Size
260–280mm; wing 192–211mm
The yellow-wattled lapwing is 260 to 280mm long, with a wing of 192 to 211mm, a bill of 23 to 26mm and a tarsus of 57 to 66mm. Like other lapwings and plovers it is a ground bird, and its nest is a mere collection of tiny pebbles in which the well-camouflaged eggs are laid (Wikipedia, general species account).
It lays four eggs in a ground scrape, and the four eggs typically hatch together even though they are laid a few days apart. The source read for the Bhutan guide gives no plumage, range or diet detail, and does not name Bhutan, so its occurrence there is flagged.
