Nucifraga hemispila
Size
About 33cm
The southern nutcracker is a crow-family bird about 33cm long, similar in size to the northern nutcracker, with which and the Kashmir nutcracker it was formerly lumped as the spotted nutcracker. It is largely brown with limited white spotting on the face and upper breast, a plain brown lower breast and back, unmarked black wings and a white lower belly and under-tail coverts (Wikipedia, general species account).
The tail is black with white outer corners, and the bill and legs are stout and black. The northern and Kashmir nutcrackers have extensive, larger white spots on the entire breast and back. The short sources read give no range, habitat, diet or breeding detail, and do not name Bhutan, so none is stated.
