The sexes differ: males have reddish-orange and yellow-orange stripes and a rusty red-orange tail that females lack (Wikipedia, general species account).

The species was later documented near Lumang in the Tashigang Territorial Forest Division in eastern Bhutan, as well as in Chhattisgarh. It is nocturnal and has been seen coiled on shrubs at night.
