Diet
Often feeds on vertical trunks
Habitat
Evergreen montane forests above 1,200m
Size
11cm
The rufous-winged fulvetta is a member of the family Pellorneidae. Its common name is misleading, as it is not a close relative of the typical fulvettas now in the genus Fulvetta. The 11cm bird has a dark-streaked chestnut crown, white supercilium, brown upperparts and pale underparts, and the wings show a striking contrast between bright rufous primaries and black coverts (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is a noisy species with a rich warbled 'ti-du-di-du-di-du-di-du' song and a wheezy 'tsi-tsi-tsi-tsi' call. It is common in evergreen montane forests above 1,200m, often feeding on vertical trunks. The black-crowned fulvetta was until recently included here as a subspecies. The source read does not name Bhutan.
