The rufous-necked laughingthrush is a laughingthrush found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar and Nepal, in subtropical or tropical moist lowland and moist montane forest. The bird is overall grey with a black face and a rufous neck (Wikipedia, general species account).
It generally feeds on insects but has a generalist bill and can take seeds, molluscs and berries. The vocalisation is a series of small chirps, rambling and out of order, that resemble mockingbird calls and simulate babbling or laughing, and quick whip calls are easily heard in larger feeding flocks. It is non-migratory, and is reported to be good at recognising and removing foreign eggs from its nest.
