Amolops putaoensis is a torrent frog described in 2020 by Gan, Qin, Lwin, Li, Quan, Liu and Yu from a small stream of the upper Mali Kha River at Putao in Kachin State, Myanmar, at 544m, and named for that town. It belongs to the Amolops monticola group, and its closest relatives include A. aniqiaoensis, A. kohimaensis, A. monticola and A. adicola. The three original males measured 37.6 to 40.2mm (Herpetozoa 2022, open access).

A 2022 paper reported it from the upper Dulong River in Gongshan County, Yunnan, China, extending its range by about 134km, based on ten males that were noticeably larger at 47.5 to 51.2mm. It has a head slightly wider than long, a distinct rounded eardrum about half the eye diameter and robust forelimbs. No source opened for this entry confirms the frog in Bhutan, so its place on the Bhutan list should be checked (Herpetozoa 2022, open access).
