Basic stats

Habitat

Altitudinal migrant; joins mixed-species flocks, especially in winter

Range

Indian subcontinent, Himalaya and parts of South-east Asia including Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar

Size

About 8cm

The yellow-bellied fairy-fantail is a tiny bird, about 8cm long, with yellow underparts, a black eye-stripe, a white wing-bar and a broad black tail tipped with white. It was described by Blyth in 1843 and was once placed with the fantails, but DNA links it to the fairy flycatcher, and it is the only species in its genus, Chelidorhynx (Wikipedia, general species account).

It is an altitudinal migrant and often joins mixed-species flocks in winter with leaf warblers, tits and black-faced warblers. The source does not mention Bhutan, habitat, diet or breeding, so none of those are stated here (Wikipedia, general species account).
