Range
Himalayan forests of northern India and the north-eastern states, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and east to Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam
The whiskered yuhina is a member of the white-eye family whose range extends across the Himalayan forests of northern India and the north-eastern states, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh, and east to Indochina including Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is described as one of the commonest yuhinas in the Himalayas, though relatively uncommon to rare at low elevations, and it prefers relatively undisturbed closed canopy. It is sometimes found in mixed hunting parties with other yuhinas and fulvettas, though not in some areas. In north-east India it is one of several birds hunted by livestock herders.
