Picus xanthopygaeus
Habitat
Drier woodland, from lowland to the foothills of mountains
Range
Indian subcontinent
The streak-throated woodpecker is a medium-sized green woodpecker of the Indian subcontinent, with a streaked throat and scaly whitish underparts. It is green above with a yellowish rump, white eyebrows and a white and black moustache, and the crown is red in the male and blackish in the female. It occurs in drier woodland from lowland to the foothills of mountains (Wikipedia, general species account).
It can be told from the streak-breasted woodpecker by paler eyes, denser underpart streaking and a thinner pale moustache, and from the laced woodpecker by heavier underpart streaking and a less yellow neck. The short source read gives no size, voice or breeding detail, and does not name Bhutan, so none is stated.
