The Sikkim wedge-billed babbler, or blackish-breasted babbler, is an Old World babbler named for the Indian state of Sikkim. Its range includes Bhutan, India, Myanmar and Nepal. It inhabits the understorey of broadleaf evergreen forest and bamboo at 900 to 1,950m, favouring west-facing slopes in Bhutan (Wikipedia, general species account).
It occurs in small parties and feeds on insects, particularly woodlice and boring beetles. The species was previously known as the wedge-billed babbler and included the now separate Stachyris roberti; molecular analysis showed Sphenocichla species nested within Stachyris and they were merged into the older genus.
