The greater coucal is a large species of cuckoo, 48cm long. It is a weak flier, often clambering about in vegetation or walking on the ground as it forages for insects, eggs and nestlings of other birds, and it also eats fruit and seeds (Wikipedia, general species account).

The nest can be as high as 6m above the ground and the typical clutch is three to five eggs. The chicks take 18 to 22 days to fledge. The sources opened for the Bhutan guide give nothing on plumage, range or habitat, so none is stated.
