Boiga stoliczkae
Range
Central Nepal through Darjeeling, Sikkim and Bhutan to Arunachal Pradesh and Assam; Tibet (Gyirong)
Boiga stoliczkae is a rear-fanged cat snake described by Frank Wall in 1909 from 39 specimens from the Darjeeling area, with 21 rows of scales at midbody, 218 to 252 belly scales and 100 to 119 scales under the tail. Its validity was long disputed and it was treated as a synonym of B. ochracea until a revision restored it as a valid species (Biodiversity Data Journal 2024, open access).
It was known from central Nepal through Darjeeling, Sikkim and Bhutan to Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, and a 2023 specimen from Gyirong County, Tibet, near the Nepal border, matched it in scale counts and mitochondrial DNA, extending its range along the Himalaya. Some sources still use the older name Boiga ochracea stoliczkae. The sources opened give no size, habitat or diet detail (Biodiversity Data Journal 2024, open access).
