Habitat
Woven nest of strips cut from paddy leaves, rough grasses and palm fronds
Size
15cm
The Baya weaver is sparrow-sized, 15cm long, and in non-breeding plumage both males and females resemble female house sparrows. Its strong beak cuts, collects, weaves and knots strips of 20 to 60cm from paddy leaves, rough grasses and palm fronds, and up to 500 trips are needed to complete a nest (Wikipedia, general species account).
The chicks leave the nest after about 17 days. The source read gives no range, habitat or diet information, and does not name Bhutan, so none is stated, and its occurrence in Bhutan is flagged for checking.
